                         CHAPTER-37-SG-Y-2-S-4-WINTER

The town of Oak Leaf woke up to the first day of winter which was a clear sunny day though the ground was covered with frost from the cold overnight temperatures.Everybody was getting prepared for winter and making sure their harvested produce got into their fridges so they could start cooking meals.
Everybody was still going out sometimes and they were still in lighter outerwear when winter started since it was still dry and they still didn;t have any snow yet.The residents of the town were ready for when winter weather started arriving and dropping tons of snow on the ground though they weren't really dressed for that yet. They were visiting each other's homes and going out shopping.
The city hall was getting a lot of visits from wild horses and those horses left messes that needed to be cleaned up by work crews. The town's residents were all managing to follow their usual daily routines of getting up and tending to daily chores at home before going to work. The town was also working on making sure there were places to go for outings besides the bars and clubs for the residents.
There were work crews getting into the town pool every night over the first few days of winter adding new things and stocking the pool with fish for the locals to be able to fish from the pool. There were new objects like playpens, baby swings and walkers being added to the pool deck for those babies and toddlers belonging to the visitors. Those were added to allow families to bring the tots along.
Eli and Ami were still busy keeping up with the usual daily routine they'd started to follow in the earlier days as residents of Oak Leaf.It was still frosty in the mornings and evenings though the frost was sometimes gone later in the day.It was almost mid-winter by then and the town's work crews had been busy with the pool. The weather had begun to get colder over the last few days and it was damp.
There were often wild horses gathering around Oak Leaf's city hall since it was a small rural town with farming being big around the area. The residents were still waiting for it to start snowing that winter though it was already half gone. The winter had been easy on the locals so far though that was about to change sometime over the next few days with the first snow of the season.
The next day had dawned clear and sunny again and the residents were making the most of the weather while they could before things changed. The Jankowskys went fishing at the pool that day and caught a few fish.It started out warm that day and started getting very cold as the day progressed. It was also getting very damp out as was often the case when snow could be coming soon.
Everybody in Oak Leaf was waking up to a new day that was very cold and damp with the possibility of snow.It would be the first snow of the winter season when that happened and they would have to get into the right outerwear before the snow came. The residents were also having to eat spoiled leftovers due to being careless in not making sure they were eaten before going bad in the fridge.
It began to snow later that day and luckily everybody had gotten into snowgear for outerwear before the storm hit the area. There were days of blizzard weather with it being down to -40 degrees outside and the ground was drifted over badly with snow everywhere. It made it hard for the locals to keep up with their daily chores with the cold harsh weather and getting into town wasn't easy.
It had been snowstorms and blizzards on and off for most of the middle of winter and it was now late winter and the weather had cleared up though it remained very cold and the ground was still covered in snow. There were still at least a few days left of winter before spring would be arriving with milder weather and the annual spring thaw which would melt the snow and make it muddy.
There were some travelers who gotten lost in a blizzard while staying as guests in another nearby town who ended up in Oak Leaf when their holiday got extended into the winter.Davis Bell had come here on a holiday with her husband Lacey and winter hit before they could leave. They ended up staying at Garden Market in the town center of Oak Leaf and were waiting for spring and for a house to be ready for them.
It was snowflake day just after they arrived in town and they enjoyed getting gifts from a gift pile in the basement of Garden Market. They both opened their gifts and had to get part time jobs at the spa so they could earn money to buy a house when one came available to buy in the spring. They were both hoping for spring like the other Oak Leaf residents were and they wanted to get settled in.
Davis and Lacey Bell were both up one morning near the end of winter with there still being two days left in the season and it clouded over that morning. They were both worried it was going to start snowing again and hoped it wouldn't snow too much. They looked out a little later and noticed that it was actually raining and that the snow was turning into slush. It was clear that the snow was about to start melting.
The residents of Oak Leaf were all starting to get excited for spring when they all looked out their windows and started to see green patches in the melting snow as it was raining. It wouldn't be too long before the snow had melted away and the ground would be clear again. It was still winter and that would continue to be the case for another day and the Bells were looking at a starter home.
The last day of winter had been a bit hectic for the town of Oak Leaf as the residents started getting themselves ready for spring. They were all getting changed into spring outfits after the snow had melted away and it had been sunny all day though it wasn't very cold and it remained clear in the evening. They were all going to have to finish off any leftovers in their fridges even if food was bad.
The residents of Oak Leaf were all looking foreward to the arrival of spring and the new year which ended the year of 1846 and be the start of 1847.They were all making very big plans for the coming year once winter was over because they all wanted to see the town starting to grow and to see new babies being born while older babies grew into toddlers.
