                  CHAPTER-32-SG-Y-2-(EARLY SPRING)

The residents of Oak Leaf had finally lived through the winter of 1845 and were now living through the spring of 1846 since the new year started with the arrival of spring. They had been very lucky to have had a very soft winter for their first winter as pioneer settlers immigrating to a new country and moving out west to claim their own land. The population of Oak Leaf consisted of Eli and Ami Jankowsky along with Tanner and Tracy Ivanovitch though it would change as new families arrived in town.
The Jankowskys were busy on the first days of spring tending to their indoor garden and studying skills. It was still very cold and frosty most mornings and sometimes remained cold all day long. The Ivanvitch family also had to tend to a very big indoor garden every day and they all wanted to get the skill up so it would be faster and easier to work on their gardens without it taking forever to get done.
Tanner and Tracy Ivanovitch had a little excitement of their own on that first night of spring in Oak Leaf when a UFO decided to visit their lot in the night. They'd just survived their first winter in Oak Leaf and were looking foreward to making their home better over the spring and summer that year as an effort to prepare for the possible arrival of a baby down the road though it might not happen right away.
Tanner was the one taken that night and it kept her up so late that she wasn't well-rested when she got up in the morning after she overslept. She'd slept until 8AM though she should've slept until 11AM because she wanted to get back on track with her schedule after that messed up night. They were all looking at making improvements to the houses in town after winter had ended.
The residents of Oak Leaf had spent the next few days tending their gardens and getting harvests so they'd be able to start cooking fresh meals again very soon. They were all busy relying on eating up the leftovers in their fridges and it was all starting to go bad and some things were so spoiled they swarmed with flies. It didn't matter to the Oak Leaf residents if they ate bad food when they had to.
They were all hoping the eating spoiled food would come to an end before too long because it wasn't something they wanted to do all of the time.It was best to get the spoiled food cleared out before it contaminated the good food and made it spoil faster.None of the town residents could afford to be throwing food out of they could still eat it even if it swarmed with flies and was bad.
They also had large gardens to keep tended every day at the time though that would change as plants went barren over the coming year.It was raining a lot that spring and they were concerned about mud making it harder to travel or to get to work every day. They decided to start walking to work daily until the ground started to dry up.They wanted to see it raining a lot less frequently and get more sun.
The residents of Oak Leaf had some plants in their gardens go barren as the season started to progress. The first five days of spring were passing by in the town very quickly after they'd lucked out on having a dry winter. The residents were amazed at how quickly early spring had gone by.They were grateful to have finally gotten enough produce to be able to start cooking meals again.
It was almost mid-spring by the time they'd made it past the fifth day of the season and the residents had been starting to add rooms to their homes.
